Amount loaned: €25,000
Purpose: Business Architecture for their Start-up Venture
Cyprus Web Development Agency
Innovation For Real People
When Waterford based college mates, Kevin Fraser and June Hayes had the vision to create a start-up company around their asset of a cloud-based platform, Cyprus, they turned up to Otter Financial, for legit funding, with a well-organised plan.
In May 2016, Cloud students, Kevin and June had a very maturely streamlined plan for their dream project, Cyprus, which would be the same name as their cloud-based application development company, as well as their designed web/mobile application. While the company would come later, launching the app was the duo’s main concern when they approached us.
The product in question was aimed to bring “Real People Together” as per their tagline. The application, with both web and mobile usability, was for artists, and creative people to have a unique opportunity to showcase their talents or products as paid services.
The app would do it’s best to grab potential customers looking for unique experiences, in terms of events, gift items, entertainment, technical help, or tutorial, they were to upload their demand on Cyprus, and Cyprus verified vendors would be notified to take the opportunity.
The system would be a highly secure and safe one. Kevin and June elaborated on the element of “getting strangers on the line”. So they incorporated proper background data, and behaviour analysis and a number of other measures to get this thing to reach out to the actual people it was made for.
Waterford is an urban city, and connectivity is not a problem with the presence of a plethora of social media, like Facebook, or Whatsapp and Twitter. However, if a certain FB user does not buy ads, he is never visible to potential buyers. And it is not always that one is ready to choose their art or craft, as a profession. So Cyprus will be a platform, wherein the uncertified vendors would see a demand, without having to advertise.
The system has gained the attention of a number of brands as well, including GrouponIE. Cyprus, would for the first time bring together street performers, curio collectors, hobbyists and those that do not really have a company, or even “web presence” as such.
Kevin and June, are both students of Cloud, and hold a B.Sc. Degree. They are currently employed at different web development agencies in Waterford, as their dream project is given shape in the patient scrutiny of a number of industry-leading business analysts in Ireland.
Cyprus will soon go beyond the borders of Ireland, with its potential franchise partnership offered from Belgium, New Zealand and Australia. The credit here obviously goes to Otter Financial, for providing them with business start-up loans.
“What we were looking for, was not just funds and all the technical stuff, though I accredit the most essential part, but we truly appreciate Otter Financial, one of the leading P2P lending companies, for their visionary values. They did not charge any early settlement fee, and helped us showcase our plan successfully, and have a strong foothold”
